Though this is not breast cancer awareness month, the fight against breast cancer, for those who are battling it, or have lost a love one to it, remains a battle every single day.
In the case of Shameka Holland Woodley, not only was she diagnosed with breast cancer but she was also confirmed as being pregnant on the very same day, thus being faced with the difficult decision of terminating her pregnancy or keeping her baby.
Though looking in the eyes of breast cancer, Shameka made the heart wrenching decision to keep her baby. Her baby, Jaice, which means healer in Hebrew, was born premature but is now doing just fine. What made sitting down and talking with Shameka so remarkable is the fact that I have never personally known anyone who was battling breast cancer. The beauty, bravery, and strength that I see in her is truly astounding. This young woman, who was already a wife and mother of two found out that she was pregnant and being diagnosed with breast cancer. Going through treatments, giving birth prematurely, and continuing to care for her older children after she was taken out of work is definitely a burden. She and her husband must come up with the financial means for her treatments, travel expenses and medication although they significantly lost income when Shameka was taken out of work. What a strain?
What Shameka doesn't tell us in the video is that she is scheduled to undergo a double mastectomy and is need of our help. Through Salon Exotica Via L.S. I am committed to donating 2 dollars to Shameka's Gofundme for each sale in the Jaice collection, and another dollar will go to the Breast Cancer Awareness Society.
In an effort to support a very brave and strong, yet challenged young woman battling breast cancer, I ask that we all look into our hearts (or pockets) to ensure that Shameka Woodley is able to fight cancer without any financial worries. If you aren't able to give, I ask that you share this blog post or share her gofundme account and story.

I will be posting the first part of the video later on, as it uploads.
